Lost Baggage

We apologise for any inconvenience you may experience should your bag be delayed. Such isolated incidents are not typical of our high standard of service and we make every effort to locate your property as quickly as possible.

If your checked-in baggage does not arrive with you at the airport arrival hall, please locate a Zambezi Airlines Representative and advise them of the situation. You will also be required to complete and sign a Property Irregularity Report Form, which will be supplied by the Zambezi Airlines staff or handling agent. (Please note that this must be done before leaving the airport)

Travel Insurance

Passengers are strongly advised to purchase Travel Insurance which will generally include coverage for lost and stolen baggage. Travel Insurance must be purchased before travel commences.

Interim Payment

If away from home country (if at a destination other than their domicile country), Zambezi Airlines will arrange an interim payment of US $50.00 for economy passengers and US $80.00 for business passengers, or the equivalent in local currency, for the purchase of personal items (i.e., clothing and toiletries). The Zambezi Airlines contract of carriage excludes liability for consequential damages such as expenses for taxis, car rentals, phone calls, hotel stays or meals. The interim payment amount shall be deducted from final compensation amount in case of total baggage loss.

No compensation is given to passengers whose baggage is delayed in their country of their residence.

Baggage Collection and Delivery

If Customs regulations permit, we will attempt to arrange for clearance of lost but found baggage. However, in some cases the passenger is obliged to personally clear the baggage through Customs. If allowed to clear baggage on behalf of customer, we will deliver baggage to the nearest town airline office on customer request.

If your baggage has not been located within seven (7) days, a lost baggage claim should be filed with the airline. At this point, a secondary search will be initiated. You will be contacted immediately should we be successful in locating your baggage. On the other hand, if our efforts are to no avail, your claim will be settled in accordance with the applicable international conventions. The liability for baggage loss is limited to U.S.$20.00 per kilo for checked baggage.

Important: Zambezi Airlines assume no liability for loss, damage or delay to money, jewellery, perishables, negotiable paper, securities, documents/certificates (business, medical, travel, education), samples, paintings, antiques, artefacts, manuscripts , irreplaceable books or publications, medication, keys, cameras and other photographic or movie equipment, working papers (files, studies, reference material, correspondence, theses etc.), or other similar valuables, fragile items, electronic equipment (videos, stereos, computers).
